Bumbleance is an ambulance that transports sick children to and from hospitals all around the country. This bumbleance receives no state funding is completely reliant on the money collected through fundraising.

One of the fundraising initiatives is to collect old mobile phones. As a school we have decided to help them. Please ask Mams, Dads, Grannies, Granddads, Aunties, Uncles, cousins etc to donate their unwanted phones to this charity.

For each mobile phone donated to the cause your name gets entered into a draw for to win a Mercedes Benz. A donated smart phone provides you with 5 entries and a ‘normal’ phone is worth 1 entry.

There is a large yellow box outside Mary the Secretary’s office to collect the phones. Please don’t forget to write your name on the sheets beside it to ensure your name gets entered into the draw for the car.

 We planted cress seeds on Monday 3rd February. We have written an account of their growth. We hope you like it  🙂

Day 1

We wet the cotton wool with water. (Beth and Ava McGreal)

We put the cotton wool onto plates. (Dean)

Miss Ryan had to shake out the seeds. (Cara and Kayla)

We went to look at them. (Conor)

We have to wait for them to grow. Miss Ryan says it won’t take very long to grow. (Beth and Ruben)

Saoirse took a picture. (Ashton)

Day 2

Dáire took a picture of the plant seeds (Ross)

And they didn’t grow yet. (Cameron and Kate)

I think they need more water. (Isaac)

Miss Ryan put more seeds on trays today. (Ava Brien)

Miss Ryan checked are they still wet. (Moyah)

They are still wet. (Shanice)

We don’t need to put any more water on them. (Joe)

Day 3

They started to go a little bit green. (Kayla)

Stuff are growing. (Cara)

There are shoots coming out of the cress seeds (Junior Infants)

They are still wet. (Mark)

They are starting to grow. (Isaac)

I think they will be getting bigger. (Ruben)

I think the cress seeds will grow. (Ashton)

I think they will still be white tomorrow. (Emma)

 

Day 4

They’re starting to grow (Amy)

It takes a long time to plant them. We planted them a long time ago. (Evie)

They are starting to go green. (Conor)

We had a look at them. (Shanice)

Miss Ryan put a little bit more water on them. (Callum)

Day 5

Kayla took the picture. (Amelia)

The cress did grow. (Sarah)

The cress seeds are growing and they are glas. (Cara)

But there are some that are not really growing. (Ava Brien)

Some of them  grew (Ruben)

Some grew and some didn’t. (Ross)

We just went to see them. (Moyah)

It is Friday. What will happen before Monday?

We think:

• They might grow a bit bigger. (Kate)
• Some might not grow (Conor)
• They will be green (Ross)

We had no school.

We had no school.

Day 8

They have been growing very long (Jaqueline)

But they still have white stalks. (Kweva)

They got even bigger. (Ruben)

They are green and tall. (Shanice)

Day 9

They are going green. (Sarah)

They got longer. (Emma)

They’re getting bigger. (Josh)

They are very big. (Kayla)

They grew overnight. (Cara)

Day 12

We had a teddy bears picnic today. Everybody brought their favourite teddy bear to school. We pushed all the tables and chairs to the sides of the classroom. We sat on the floor in a circle and we had cress sandwiches. They were lovely. We were having so much fun that we forgot to take a photograph. 😀

We thought the builders were taking a long time to build our hall, so we decided to show them how it could be done in October 2013. We were builders at playtime and we built the hall. We thought we did a great job, so we wanted to show everyone!!

We decorated and wore our spex on the 26th September. We had lots of fun wearing our glasses in school Miss Ryan didn’t recognise some of us with our beautifully decorated spex. Let us know what you think 😀
